  • We advised on the securitization of the assets of a power generating state corporation, which if successful, will be the first Asset Backed Security (ABS) transaction to be undertaken in Kenya.
  • We advised a private company in the entertainment industry on its intended listing on the Growth Enterprise Market Segment of the Nairobi Securities Exchange which will see the company expand its revenue streams and increase its access to capital.
  • Advised Safaricom PLC in the sale of the 25% stake held by the Government of Kenya in the company to the public and the subsequent listing of Safaricom Limited on the then Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE). This was the largest initial public offerings in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Advised Bralirwa Limited, Rwanda’s largest brewery company, in its initial public offer and subsequent listing on the Rwanda Stock Exchange, which was a first of a kind transaction in Rwanda.
  • Advising Nabo Capital Limited in its proposed asset-backed security transaction to raise approximately USD 450 million for a proposed 1,050MW coal power plant in Lamu.
  • Advised Gulf African Bank and handled its application for a licence from the Capital Markets Authority for its custodial business.
  • Advised on the issuance of convertible notes by Nairobi Business Ventures (NBV), a leather products retail chain operating under the brand name “K Shoe” and the only Small and Medium Enterprise listed on the ‘Growth and Enterprise Market Segment (GEMS) of the Nairobi Securities Exchange.
  • Assisted in acting for an international corporate and investment bank in its proposed derivatives transaction with a specialised African regional financial institution.
